Snowflake Lane

Bellevue, a town about 35 minutes northeast of us, has a holiday event that they call Snowflake Lane. Every night at 7pm, they put on a cute little holiday show. As we just heard of it for the first time, we decided to head up there and see what it was. It turned out to be short, cute, and fun. Here are a few photos, including a few that I couldn't resist doctoring up.

The show takes place on NE 8th St. and Bellevue Way NE in downtown Bellevue right on the sidewalks. We got there a little early and parked ourselves at Starbucks where we all got treats. Starbucks was busy with at least 20-25 drinks waiting to be made when I got to the front of the line for hubby's mocha. The show was just about to start when I finally joined the family and started trying to get photos. I got this nice one of the boys.

Here's all of them together. I caught Josh with a scowl on his face. The only other picture of all of them together has Josh rubbing his eyes and Sammy with a maniacal grin and bugged out eyes.

No, Josh is NOT sleeping in this photo. There were several characters prancing up and down the sidewalk interacting with everyone. Every time a non-human character came near us, Josh played possum. Perhaps, if he acted dead, they wouldn't see him?

There were live toy soldiers having a ball. Some, like this cheerful fellow, were up on stilts. Others were just skipping around handing out suckers. Still others were up on platforms drumming along with the piped in Christmas songs.

Here's Sammy with a snowman. There were several other characters as well, including Rudolf, a penguin, and the snow queen (a beautiful young lady with ringlet curls in a gorgeous white dress). Sammy loves characters and having his photo taken with them. Mika generally avoids them.

But let's take a closer look at this snowman for a moment. LOL

In addition to piped in Christmas music, toy soldiers frolicking and drumming, characters, and suckers, they had snow. For the last half of the 15-20 minute festivities bubble snowflakes fell from the sky. They almost looked real!

Snowflake Lane happens nightly at 7pm from now until December 24th. Should you go see it? It depends. I wouldn't recommend driving 35 minutes just for this like we did; however, if you live near Bellevue or have other business there (perhaps a visit to their outdoor skating rink), stop by with the kids. It's cute. It's fun.

Looks like a fun way to kick off the Christmas season.

Cute picture of your daughter leaning on daddy's shoulder. I suspect your husband is really just a pillow in disguise. :)

LOL! I don't blame Josh. That snowman looks pretty scary!
