I really like this take on The Little Red Hen. It's about an armadillo, named Miss Billie, who asks for help making her armadilly chili but doesn't get any. When her friends find themselves in need of a cup of warm chili, she declines to share. But, unlike, The Little Red Hen, the story doesn't stop there.
This book has cute colorful illustrations and verse that just begs to be read with an accent. The ending is far superior to that of the original story, showing us that apologies and friendships are the way to go.
