Sam reacted to something in our smoothies this past week. The first time, he complained about being itchy around his mouth and chin. Sure enough, when I looked at it, he had a red rash in the area. We applied some Benadryl Cream to it and went on with our evening. A couple days later, we were drinking more smoothies and he complained that it was happening again. This time, the rash extended up into his cheeks. I sent Scott to the store for some liquid Benadryl immediately. After taking the Benadryl, it took a while for the rash to fade. I kept a good eye on him that evening while trying to figure out what was causing the rash.
Between the different ingredients (each smoothie he reacted to was slightly different) and allergy information I found, I think it was the orange juice. He's never liked oranges. He's never cared for orange juice either.
So, I came up with another smoothie. This one is dairy free, soy free, and citrus free.
In the blender, I added:
2 cups apple juice
2 bananas
about 1 1/2 cups of frozen pineapple
about 1/2 to 3/4 cups of frozen raspberries
Now this one is DELICIOUS! It's our favorite one so far. I need to go buy more fruit!

That is almost exactly like the smoothies hubby makes for us. He usually doesn't use banana though. Delish for sure.
